random photo tag

Here's a fun tag-go to your fourth picture folder and post the fourth picture in this folder. Then explain what is going on in the photo. Tag some friends and see what stories you get. This photo was taken in Reutte, Austria. This was a hike the morning after my roommate and I nearly ended up spending the night on a park bench. We were planning on getting to this city early enough to visit the Tourist Info for help finding a room for the night. We got behind schedule and took a wrong train and got in after dark-all rooms in town were booked and we wandered the streets searching. We were directed about a mile out of the city center to a hotel which was a little pricy-they directed us to an adorable little pension-which was booked full. The cute old lady at the pension told us we should have consulted Rick Steve's travel manual and booked a room in advance-clearly some good advice. Luckily she was the nicest lady ever and spoke excellent English. She called all the places and people she knew and found us a room at a pension a few blocks away. The owner there was nice enough to come pick us up because the sweet old lady would not have us packing over there on the dark streets alone. I was never so grateful for kind people and for a warm bed. We went to bed not really knowing where we were and we woke up in a darling little home outside of town. Turned out there were some castle ruins at the top of the hill above so we headed up there. This picture was taken at a little visitors center/park at the base of the hill. The castle ruins at the top were worth the hike-they were just old walls and such, crumbling and overgrown in a pretty natural setting-you could just climb all over them and explore and see the layout of the town below-a very good thing seeing how we really had no idea where we were.

I tag Amy and Megan!

That's a great story. I never heard that one. It reminds me of my own adventures in Austria. There are some really nice people in that country. I also was saved by a nice lady in a bed and breakfast.
